ABOUT BRIDGET

Currently undertaking a Composition Masters at the Hochschule der Künste Bern, Bridget Bourne is an award-winning percussionist-composer hailing from Melbourne/Naarm, Australia. As both performer and composer, her work explores the boundaries that link music, dance, art, and theatre – unearthing the musicality of physical gesture, the rhythm of visual art, and the melody of everyday objects.

Her works have won acclaim across festivals and competitions internationally, including receiving runner up in Women’s Sacred Music Project Commission Competition and finalist in the International Timpani Composition Competition of Lyon 2025, exhibiting not only her aptitude and artistry, but her versatility. Most recently, she was awarded the Amman Falb Scholarship to produce textile focused costume-instrument work ‘Overlooked, Unheard’ with Elena Sword and Anastácia Kazmina. Her works have been performed around the world including in the USA, Switzerland, France, and across Australia, with upcoming premieres in Greece and Slovenia.

A keen collaborator, she has a particular affinity for cross-disciplinary and explorative performance, as evidenced in her work with the National College of Dance’s performances of ‘Banged and Tapped’, and her collaboration with Juliana Kay on their APRA AMCOS Art Music Award Nominated song cycle ‘Earth-Shaped Hearts’, commissioned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Classic Composer Commissioning Fund.

Bridget excels in theatrically captivating and intricate performances, as exemplified by her role in interdisciplinary sci-fi work ALGORITHMS DO DREAM, premiered as part of Musik Festival Bern in September 2025. As an ensemble member, she has toured to China, Singapore, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Germany and New Zealand as well as extensively throughout Australia.
